OPENING PRAYER: Dear Lord, I request that you help me to encounter you as I meditate on your word.
SCRIPTURE: Psalm 16:1‐11
Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 3 March 2022 MESSAGE
David wrote this Psalm while a fugitive from Saul. We have here a shadow of the heritage we have in God. Vs.1‐2: What do you do when you feel overwhelmed by the trials, tribulations and problems of life? There is only one place for the believer to run to.
This is what David did (Proverbs 18:10). Vs.3‐4: Who are your close associates? The friends you keep will impact your life for good or evil. What key point do you take from vs.5‐6? Our God is Sovereign, and it is His plans and purposes for us that will stand. Vs.7‐9: If you seek God sincerely, you will find Him.
Indeed, you will end up becoming His friend. See Psalm 25:14. When you have such a relationship with God, nothing can shake, frighten, or disorient you. See Psalm 119:165 Vs.10‐11: Our trust in God and in His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, will never be in vain.
The grave is not our final destination. We have a heavenly city waiting for us. See Matthew 19:29. Life takes on a new dimension when you accept Jesus Christ as Lord.
Practice/Word Application
Application: Keep on trusting.

ONWARD, CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS
1 Onward Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before.
Christ, the royal Master,
Leads against the foe;
Forward into battle,
See, His banners go!
Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus,
Going on before.
2 At the name of Jesus
Satan’s host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers,
On to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver
At the shout of praise:
Brothers, lift your voices,
Loud your anthems raise!
3 Like a mighty army
Moves the Church of God:
Brothers, we are treading
Where the saints have trod;
We are not divided,
All one Body we—
One in faith and Spirit,
One eternally.
4 Crowns and thrones may perish,
Kingdoms rise and wane;
But the Church of Jesus
Constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never
’Gainst the Church prevail;
We have Christ’s own promise,
Which can never fail.
5 Onward, then, ye people!
Join our happy throng;
Blend with ours your voices
In the triumph song.
Glory, laud and honor
Unto Christ, the King;
This through countless ages
Men and angels sing.
