This Psalm may be seen as a testimony of David, the king of Israel. Vs.1‐3 is a summary of the entire testimony. The king says he loves the Lord and describes the Lord in some terms. List these terms and find his reasons for using them.
From your personal experience how would you also describe how the Lord has been to you? Read vs.4‐6 and see the expressions he uses to describe the life‐threatening circumstances of his life. What did he do to find help? In circumstances of trouble, humans have the tendency to seek help elsewhere before calling on the Lord.
It is always best to pray to God for help. He would give guidance for further action. Vs.7‐16 probably give a description of some particular victory event that the psalmist recalls with nostalgia; the sheer beauty of God’s intervention in the process of saving him from some enemy with whom he was at war.
God’s ultimate intervention to save us is in Christ Jesus our Lord. He gave His life for us on the cross of Calvary to save us from sin and Satan. Christ is our salvation. Call on Him today for your salvation.
