TEXT: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33
OFM Rhema Daily Devotional Guide for 19th February 2021
Today, I want us to look critically at our anchor text. It begins with the conjunction, ‘but’ meaning that this statement is a contrast to what was said before it. Let us see a few verses of what was said earlier.
“Therefore take no thought, saying, what shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gemtiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things” (Matthew 6:31-32).
The Word of God is indeed awesome. When you read the verses above what the ‘but’ is a contrast to, it is mapped out in a bracket. Meaning the Gentiles seek after these things, what to eat, what to wear, pursue business contract at the expense of service etc, but you a child of the kingdom, ‘seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness.
Our text went further to say, “and all these things shall be added unto you.” By the phrase “all these things” it means whatever you can see and capture from this context of scriptures that the Gentiles seek after, it shall be added unto you if you seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness. What an unlimited supply!
Child of God, do you want to still struggle for what can be freely added to you? Make a decision to put God first and showcase God’s unending supply in your life.
My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, I make a decision to put you first in my life, in Jesus name.
