Scripture Union Daily Guide (February 16, 2025) TOPIC: Disobedience Has Consequences
OPENING PRAYER: Lord, I pray that you lead me into your truth as I meditate on your word in Jesus name.
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Numbers 15:17-41
QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION
â–º Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
â–º Q3: Is there any command for me to obey
The Lord continues to give guidelines and commands His people must obey and offerings they must present to Him. Read Numbers 15:17-21 and notice the significance of this offering. God demands the offering of a cake of the first ground meal to recognise Him as the giver of all good gifts. Read Exodus 34:26a. God made provisions for the forgiveness of unintentional sins, a prototype of what Jesus did for us. Innocent animals had to die to provide forgiveness for the sinful man just as Jesus had to die to make our forgiveness and justification possible.
Read Numbers 15:30-36 and notice the grave consequences of deliberately violating God’s word? God graciously makes provision for atoning for sin (Numbers 15:24-25; 27-28). However, there is no provision for presumptuous sins for such a sinner is despising God’s word and defying His authority. Death is the consequence.
The tassel (Numbers 15:37-41) was one of God’s provisions to help His people deal with the problem of falling into sin by reminding them of God’s command and their promise to obey Him. Instead of tassel, what can we do today to ensure we do not forget God’s law? See Psalms 119:11; Joshua 1:8; Deuteronomy 6:6-9.
And So:
Ensure the lessons you learn from God’s word help you nurture your relationship with Him.
