TOPIC: Extraordinary Faith
Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, may the entrance of your word bring light and life to all I will do today.
Scripture: Hebrews 11: 8 – 19
Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
Abraham exercised extraordinary faith in his relationship with God. First, he did not resist God when he was instructed to leave his native land for an undisclosed land of promise (v.8). Second, he believed God’s promise to give him “descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky …”. By the time Sarah gave birth to Isaac, every factor was against her and all hope of having a baby gone. Yet they believed God (vs.11-12).
Living faith always sees beyond the present, far into the future, believing that God will do what He promises (vs.13-15). Third, he did not dispute when he was commanded to offer Isaac, his only son, as a sacrifice despite God’s earlier promise to reckon his offspring through Isaac. No wonder God credited his obedience as righteousness (Genesis 15:6).
As far as Abraham was concerned, his responsibility was to obey God, while it’s God’s responsibility to fulfil His promises. Abraham is our role model in matters of faith, and so, we are called to follow his great example. Is the Lord calling you to a special mission or to make a special offering to Him? Living faith is obedient faith. God is always there for those who live the life of obedient faith (read v.16).

• Lord, forgive my disobedience, and assist me from this day forward to have a closer walk with you. • Thank God for Jesus who by His death on the cross, took away our curse and granted us access into the blessings of Abraham.
