Scripture Union Daily Guide 16th September 2022 Devotional Message for Friday– Our Victory is Certain In Christ

Scripture Union Daily Guide 16th September 2022 Devotional for Friday

TOPIC: Our Victory is Certain In Christ

OPENING PRAYER: Sanctify my life dear Lord as I study your word in Jesus name.

SCRIPTURE: Revelation 12:1‐18

Scripture Union Daily Guide 16th September 2022 MESSAGE

Our text tells of the fierce battle that took place in the heavenlies. The woman stands for Israel, the dragon represents Satan and his agents or his earthly agents, which at the time may have represented the Roman Empire. The Man‐child speaks of Jesus and the offspring of the woman represents the Gentiles who come to faith in Christ.

The battle is fierce but also notice the provision for safety for the woman and her Son. Compare the description of the accuser in v.10 with the accusations the enemy levied against Job (Job 1:6b; 2:4).

Despite all that the enemy does, just like in the case of Job, God sets the limits. He also provides for our victory as in v.11. The dragon did not only fail, he received a resounding blow. The victory of the church is certain because she has Jesus as the head. The victory of the believer is rooted in our trust in Christ and our confession of faith.

A total surrender to the will and purpose of God is a prerequisite to our victory. Compare v.12 with Job 42. As the battle becomes intense, God’s people can rest in the confidence that the one who has conquered for them remains faithful even in the light of eternity
