Brokenness Powers Service
By Rev (Dr.) Lizzy-Johnson Suleman
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE Psalm 113-115
TEXT:Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. John 12 :24.
The major reason for you to be broken is to enable you serve the Lord acceptably. “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” Matthew 16 :24. If you are not broken, you cannot truly follow the Lord. If you are not broken, serving the Lord will be such a struggle. You will be making excuse and explaining away your inability to fully serve Him.
The anchor text gives us a good picture of brokenness. For Jesus to be able to give His all and bring in a great harvest of souls into the kingdom, He had to die. Until you are broken, you may never attain your peak in Christian service. Several things daily compete with our time, financial resources, talents and abilities, etc. How you allocate what you have is a function of your priorities which are directed by your level of brokenness.
If you are not broken, you will serve God selectively. There are some Christian workers who cannot serve well in a Department or being transferred to a new branch of the church because they are not broken. If you are broken, then you are ready to obey and to do anything gladly for the Lord Jesus.
Moreover, you need to be broken to enable you carry more of God’s power and presence (2 Cor. 12 :9). The level of the anointing you can carry would be determined by your level of brokenness.
PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, I depend on you, help me to put my flesh under my spirit, so that I will no longer be seen, but Christ.
