Joel Osteen Daily Devotional 5 July 2026 TOPIC: Trained for Battle
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
He makes me as surefooted as a deer, enabling me to stand on mountain heights. He trains my hands for battle; he strengthens my arm to draw a bronze bow. You have given me your shield of victory. Your right hand supports me; your help has made me great.
Psalm 18:33–35, NLT
TODAY’S WORD
As a teenager out in the shepherds’ fields, all the circumstances in David’s life said he was ordinary. Thoughts would tell him, “You’re stuck out here. You have no connections or influence. Your own father doesn’t believe in you. There’s nothing good in your future.” But I can imagine he would look up at the stars at night and hear something whisper, “David, you’re in training to be a mighty warrior. There’s greatness in you. You will leave your mark.” Two voices were vying for his attention—the voice of doubt and the voice of faith. David chose to listen to the voice of faith, and when his opportunity came to defeat Goliath, he was ready to make his destiny a reality.
You also get to choose between the voice of doubt and the voice of faith. The voice you dwell on and the thoughts you believe will determine who you become. Don’t let the voice of doubt convince you that you’re weak, not able, less-than. Believe what God says about you. You are blessed, favored, and anointed to be a mighty warrior.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
“Father, thank You that other people and circumstances cannot keep me from what You have purposed for me. Thank You that You arm me with strength and are training me to be a mighty warrior. I believe that You will enable me to stand on mountain heights and walk in victory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
