April 17, 2025 – Scripture Union Daily Guide -OUTLINE
Jesus came into the world to save the lost and redeem mankind from the power of the devil. Throughout His ministry on earth, He brought relieve to law enforcement agents, ordinary people, the religious and the criminals. He healed their diseases and transformed their lives. Yet, these categories of people are seen here in Matthew 27:27-31,38-44, mocking and spitting on the One who they earlier had run to for help. This is what often happens today (biting the finger that fed you)!
This crowd mocked Jesus in various ways. Can you identify them and Jesus’ response? Golgotha (or Calvary), a place outside the city gate was the destination and Simon had to help Jesus carry the cross there. Any lesson from Simon?
Have you ever wondered why the soldiers gambled for His clothes by casting lot (Psalms 22:18)? That took priority over the life He was pouring out for them. Quite often people pay more attention to religious ornaments and in fact, tend to worship these symbolisms rather than the Creator. We saw yesterday that they preferred the criminal to Jesus. Today, we see another preference.
