Daily Fountain Devotional 6 July 2026 TOPIC: Beware of Fake Teachers
BIBLE READING: Jude 1:12-16
Our scripture passage today warns Christians against the danger of fake pastors who are wasting the community of Christians and misleading several believers with the appearance of righteousness on the internet and other media, both in action and words. Jude likens these people to hidden reefs, waterless clouds, trees without fruits, and wandering stars.
These images convey the emptiness, instability, and destructive influence of fake preachers on genuine Christians. Jesus also warned about false prophets in Matthew 7:15, saying, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.” In 2 Peter 2:10-12, Peter warns of similar false teachers who are “bold and wilful” and “blaspheme the glorious ones.”
We must be careful to test what we hear against God’s Word, as was done by the Berean Christians in Acts 17:11, and press on in faithfulness to His teachings, given that Jesus is the Truth Himself (John 14:6). Do not engage in unnecessary argument, rather follow Jesus Christ as your standard as shown in the Scripture.
PRAYER FOR TODAY: Lord, protect me from the subtle influences of false prophets and teachers that seek to lead me astray, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
