Daily Fountain Devotional 26 July 2026 TOPIC: He Has Prayed For You
SCRIPTURE READING: John 17:11-19
11 Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep[a] through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are. 12 While I was with them [b]in the world, I kept them in [c]Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is [d]lost except the son of [e]perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. 13 But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify[f] them by Your truth. Your word is truth. 18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.
TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
Our text today shows what Jesus did for His disciples while He was ascending unto greater glory. He prayed for them! He needed to pray for them because of the circumstances that would surround His departure from them. He was betrayed, arrested, tried, beaten and crucified. All these circumstances ended in His resurrection and ascension. He prayed for them because He would not be physically present with them anymore. He prayed for them so that they would constantly rely on the Holy Spirit for their guidance and preservation in the wicked world.
Beloved, do you know you are a disciple of Jesus Christ in this present age if you have undoubtedly associated with Him? (Mark 8:34; John 8:31-32, John 13:35). If He could pray for His disciples about 2026 years ago so that the world wherein they were would not conquer them, He has equally prayed for you against every danger and storm the present world can give. What are the things you are going through as a test of your faith? Is it in your place of work, community or the society?
Jesus Christ had prayed for you. You have overcome! As a believer, you are no more contending for victory but rather you are contending out of the victory He secured for you over 2000 years ago. Rejoice evermore, for He has prayed for you.
PRAYER: O Lord, help me to understand the extent of your love for me. Amen!
