Daily Fountain Devotional 22 July 2026 TOPIC: Ressurection And Mission In Faith
SCRIPTURE READING: John 20:11-18
11 Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.
13 They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?”
“They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” 14 At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.
15 He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?”
Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.”
16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.”
She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).
17 Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
18 Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.
TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
Mary Magdalene’s encounter with Jesus at the empty tomb deeply affected her life. She was initially overwhelmed by grief and confusion upon finding the tomb empty, but everything changed when she met the risen Christ. Seeing Jesus alive brought her clarity and joy, replacing her sorrow and doubt. This encounter filled her with hope and gave her a new purpose as Jesus sent her to share the news of His resurrection.
As Christians, we can learn from Mary Magdalene’s experience at the tomb. Like Mary who felt lost and confused but found comfort and direction in meeting the risen Christ, we too can seek God in moments of sadness, uncertainty, or despair. Her story reminds us that God is always near, offering help and guidance during life’s challenges. Just as Mary was entrusted with the mission of proclaiming Jesus’ resurrection,
Christians are also called to share the message of hope and salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. Her example encourages us to embrace our role in spreading the Gospel, bringing hope and encouragement to those in need. By following Mary’s example of faith, transformation, and dedication, we can find strength and purpose in our walk with God and in serving others.
PRAYER: Lord, may I find comfort, purpose, and strength in your presence and embrace my mission to share your message of hope and salvation with others. Amen!
