Scripture Union Daily Guide 3 February 2024 OUTLINE:
Jesus was avoiding Judea because the Jews hated Him and wanted to kill Him (v.1). What can we learn from Jesus here? Why did the Jews hate Jesus and wanted to kill Him (v.7)? Living to please God in this fallen world is like swimming against the tide. As long as we commit to live a godly life, the world will hate us. Even our own relatives may misunderstand us (see v.5; Psalm 69:8).
The suggestion from Jesus’ brothers in vs.3-4 was a suggestion to use God’s grace to promote one’s ego. How did Jesus respond to their suggestion (vs.6-9)?
Notice how emphatic Jesus was about divine timing (vs.6&8). He knows the will of God for His life and would not allow popular opinion to influence how and when God wants it done. He was aware of a much bigger picture than His brothers understood. He neither rushes presumptuously to the feast ahead of the Father’s timing nor stay back in disobedience when it was the right time for Him to be at the feast (v.10). To fulfil God’s purpose for our lives, we also must learn to follow God’s timing in all we do.

Lord, help me to walk and work with you being conscious of your divine timing for my life.
Prayer for the week
• Pray that God’s judgment will be in the earth, so that people may learn righteousness • Plead with God, that in His wrath, He will remember mercy. • Pray for revival in our Nation.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Isaiah 62:6 ‐ 7

• The Chairman be endowed with grace to pilot the affairs of the meeting
