Topic: “For God So Love The World…”
Opening Prayer: I open my heart to meditate on your word, teach me your ways oh Lord.
Today’s Scripture: John 3:13-21, NIV
13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
DAILY GUIDE 8 JANUARY 2024 OUTLINE BELOW:
Read the story of the bronze serpent in Numbers 21:4-9. The dying Israelite in the desert could add nothing to the provision God had made to save him from death. All he needed to do was to obey and look. And anybody who looked at the snake would be healed of the snake’s poison. It was something anybody could do, whether they were young or old, man or woman, learned or ignorant. Only those who failed to look upon that bronze snake would die of the snake’s poison.
Eternal death awaits all men because of their sins but God has made available to us the one and only way of escape: through the death of His One and Only Son. His purpose was to save all mankind. Any sinner can look up to Jesus Christ and be born again. It is not complicated. It is a miracle that depends on the love and grace of God. However, some fail to look upon God’s remedy for the poison of sin. Look at what v.18 says about them.
Practice/Word Application
