TOPIC: Obedience Pays (20
DAILY BIBLE READING: Joshua 10-12
TEXT: “And Elijah said unto her, fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, the barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth”. 1 kings 17 :13 – 14.
Obedience to the counsel of God pays any day and any time. You are to simply obey them and not try to logically analyse them. They may not be convenient, but since they are commanded, they are sure to yield tremendous dividends for you.
In the context of our anchor text, God sent His servant Elijah to the wisdom of Zarephath for Him to sustain him through her. So long God declared that to Elijah, He has supernaturally empowered the widow to do so.
The servant of God, Elijah did not try to figure out how God could sent him to a widow who in her condition needs help. He simply obeyed and went to her.
God’s ways which always give us instructions to obey and trigger His miraculous acts in our lives, also made Elijah the servant of God to place a demand on the widow. Despite she told him that the meal she had was for her and her son to eat and die, he told her to first bake his first.
Hear me, the promises of God will always place a demand on you for them to manifest in your life. Elijah told her the unending supply that her obedience will command, but its left for her to decide whether to hold on to the little meal or obey the instruction of Elijah and trigger the unending supply. Thank God she obeyed God’s servant and the reward of obedience was revealed in her household.
Child of God, always choose to obey, obedience pays.
PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, the grace to always obey your command rest on me.
