The Upper Room Daily Devotional 11 August 2022 MESSAGE
One day on the bus ride home the only other passenger was a young man with his pet dog. I sat down beside him. He had a nice smile, and he petted his dog, which he called Milagros, meaning miracles. I found that name interesting, and we started a conversation.
As we talked, I felt inspired to share the good news of Christ’s love with the young man, but I was reluctant to follow through. After a while, I decided to speak up. When I did, something changed. The words I spoke were not mine, but God’s. It was as if a door had opened that allowed me to share the good news of Jesus with this young man.
I have faith that someday this seed I planted will bear fruit. The setting — a public transport vehicle — may not have been what I was expecting. But God inspired me to speak in that moment despite my hesitancy and insecurity. God asks us to be willing to do our part, and God will take care of the rest.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Faithful God, help us to move beyond our reluctance and fear and embrace opportunities to share the good news in any place. Amen.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
