The Upper Room 20th February 2022 Devotional MESSAGE
Several months after our wedding, my husband felt called into ministry. Pursuing this vocation required a huge shift in our finances and priorities. Every step we took was one of total faith, and it was one of the scariest things that I have ever done.
When I met my husband, neither of us knew what God’s plan was for us. In many ways, we still do not know entirely where God will send us. And as someone who loves to plan, trusting in God’s design and accepting that it may not align with mine is scary.
I have found great comfort in Mary’s prayer after she learned from the angel Gabriel that she would be the mother of Christ. She glorifies God and accepts without hesitation the future that has been presented to her. What a great example for us today!
Glorifying God in uncertainty and following in obedience into an unknown future becomes easier when I remember Jesus Christ is always with me. Philippians 4:13 reminds me that I can do all things through Christ. Trusting his promises helps me take those steps of faith.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord, thank you for loving us. Please help us to remember Mary’s trust and follow you in faith. Amen.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
With God, I can walk confidently into the unknown.
