Scripture Union Daily Guide 8 October 2022 Devotional Message for Saturday– That All The Peoples of The Earth May Know You

Scripture Union Daily Guide 8th October 2022 Devotional for Saturday

TOPIC: That All The Peoples of The Earth May Know You

OPENING PRAYER: Let me know more of you today dear Lord as I meditate on your word.

SCRIPTURE: 2 Chronicles 6:32‐42

Scripture Union Daily Guide 8 October 2022 OUTLINE

In this last part of Solomon’s prayer, he continued to enumerate the situations in which he sought God’s intervention through prayers offered in the Temple. Notice his concern not only for his people, Israel, but also for strangers who come to seek the God of Israel (vs.32‐33; compare 1 Kings 10:1).

What influence did he desire that the Temple might have on such people? In what way can we make this our own concern for those who are ‘strangers’ to the Christian faith? “?when they hear of your great name and your strong hand and your powerful arm?”, they should begin to seek God in repentance. Victory in battle is not necessarily a matter of military might or supremacy (vs.34‐35).

Note the link between prayer and victory. “There is no one who does not sin” (v.36), compare Romans 3:23 and I John 1:9. Vs.36‐39 remind us about sin, its consequence and solution. This prayer was answered specifically in the life of Daniel who prayed from Babylon (Daniel 6:10, 9:1‐3).

Soon after the prophet’s prayer, the king made a decree that enabled the Jews to return from exile under the leadership of Ezra (Ezra 1:1‐2). The prayer ends with Psalm 132:8‐10, a final cry for God’s presence, which will impact both the priests and the people.

Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Is there any prayer for me to remember?

Practice/Word Application
And so: Why not extend your prayer coverage to others like unbelievers around you?

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• FATHER , let as many that have not received JESUS CHRIST accept and believe HIM as their Lord and saviour.

Prayer for the week
• Pray for spiritual discernment for the church of God. Pray that the Lord will raise Christian intercessors who will not fail to mention and plead for Gods’ intervention in the nation. Pray that the church will awake to avoid the evil people sowing tares in the church.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Proverbs 10:3

One Year Bible Reading Plan
Joel 1‐3; Psalms 72.
