* Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 6 June 2024 Outline:
We began reading the instructions for guilt offering two days ago. Today, the Lord gave further instructions on this. Notice how He specially qualifies this offering in v.1. When God Himself calls something “most holy” and invites man to handle it, additional care is expected to be taken. The blood of the guilt offering is to be splattered around the altar of the burnt offering instead of the priest using his finger to put a representative blood on the horns of the altar (v.2). Note from v.7 the similarity between the guilt offering and the sin offering, while vs.8-10 tell the differences between them.
The peace offering can be in the form of thanksgiving offering or voluntary and vow offering. The priest is to eat the meat of the offering but note the responsibility placed on him to ensure the offerings are accepted by God. If he fails in any way, the people’s offering is rejected (v.18). Read vs.19-21. What specific instruction do we have as we approach the table of the Lord in Holy Communion (1 Corinthians 11:23-30). Note also that blood of the animals must not be tasted. The fat also is not to be eaten but burnt completely. We know today that eating fat is not healthy (vs.22-27).
Closing Prayer
Help me, dear Lord, to clearly discern your perfect will as I approach your altar in worship.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Psalms 28:6 ‐ 7
6 Blessed be the LORD, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications. 7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
