Scripture Union Daily Guide 31 January 2023 MESSAGE
An African adage says, when a tree falls on another, you first take care of the one on top. It was Jairus and the sickness, and the eventual death of his daughter that initiated this trip of Jesus. However, the woman with the issue of blood interrupted his journey to Jairus’ house. As Jesus must solve the woman’s problem first, the news came that Jesus might have been too late getting to Jairus’ house. Notice, however, Jesus’ response in v.36. Having just witnessed the healing of the woman, Jairus may have felt encouraged to believe Jesus for His intervention in the hopeless situation.
Notice how Jesus handled the situation before ministering to the girl (v.40b). Why do you think He did this? Have you handled such a situation where you needed only a few believing Christians instead of a doubting crowd? See Judges 7:4-8; 1 Samuel 14:6. Jesus still performs miracles among men, but we must come to him in faith. No situation is beyond him.

So what? Are there people, however close and important, that are hindering your faith journey? Determine to separate yourself from such people right away.

► His righteousness, His mercy and all His wonderful deeds this month.
► Being the Rock of our salvation who preserved our lives and perfected all that concerned us this month.
► His love, His provision, His protection and care.
PRAY AGAINST:
► Being ungrateful and refusing to sing and dance the dance of victory this day in His presence.
► Failing to make music from your heart to the Lord our God and our Father who has the final say over our lives.
