Scripture Union Daily Guide 30th March 2023 MESSAGE
Jesus rebuked the Jews of His time for being able to read the weather signs correctly, but unable to read the signs of the coming of the Messiah (Cf. Matthew 16:1-4). Even today we are good at predicting not only the weather but political and sport events too. However, we are not wise enough to take our Master’s work and prophecies seriously; hence we are slothful at the Master’s work. Notice the warnings in vs.35-36?
When Jesus said He does not know the time of the end, this does not mean He lacks knowledge. God, the Father, who knows the time, is one with the Son. However, when He became man, Jesus emptied Himself of His divine nature with accompanying limitations. As for us, He has given the signs that will point to His return. He also warned us to be on the lookout for these signs. The signs are all evident around us already. This calls for us to wake up from our slothfulness and diligently labour in the Master’s business (Romans 12:11). We must ensure we are not caught unawares by His appearing (v.37). To be forewarned is to be forearmed!

► Grace to daily walk in obedience to all that the Lord our God may command us so that we may live and prosper in Him.
► Open ears and eyes to see the direction of God in all we do; both in words and deeds.
► Total reverence for God and His word daily as we hold fast to Him and serve Him.
PRAY AGAINST:
► Every spirit of fear and discouragement despite all that is happening around us.
► Walking in darkness and convincing ourselves that we are walking in the light.
