Scripture Union Daily Guide 28 April 2022 MESSAGE
Famine is a difficult situation to deal with. It often causes suffering, movement of peoples and corruption. God led Abram to Canaan, yet famine struck there. Believers who are determined to follow Christ may be faced with many trials and difficulties. If we choose to stand firm, God is able to see us through any difficult situation. When you encounter problems while following Jesus, believe that God has not forsaken you but will see you through that situation. Abram’s response to famine was to move to Egypt.
He acted out of fear, failing to depend on God for protection (vs.11‐13). Notice how he used human reasoning to convince Sarai who certainly would not want to become a widow in a foreign land. Note that everything Abram said happened, except that instead of being killed, he became a wealthy ‘wife‐less’ husband (vs.14‐16). Take a few minutes and write down occasions when you were very afraid and how the situations were resolved.
Bribes thrive because of fear, extramarital sex at places of work, marks for sex at colleges and universities etc. Abram put Sarai’s life on the line because of fear (Proverbs 29:25). How do you handle fearful situations as a believer? May God help us to trust Him fully in all situations.

WAIT, AND MURMUR NOT
1. O troubled heart, there is a home Beyond the reach of toil and care; A home where changes never come: Who would not fain be resting there?
Refrain
O wait, meekly wait, and murmur not, O wait, meekly wait, and murmur not O wait, O wait, O wait, and murmur not
2. Yet when bowed down beneath the load By Heav’n allowed, thine earthly lot; Look up! thou’lt reach that blest abode; Wait, meekly wait, and murmur not.
3. Toil on, nor deem, tho’ sore it be, One sigh unheard, one prayer forgot; The day of rest will dawn for thee; Wait, meekly wait, and murmur not.
Closing Prayer
• Dear God our Father, help me to live in full trust of your protective mantle over me.
