Topic: The day of God’s wrath
Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, I pray that you order my steps today through your word as I meditate on it.
Scripture: Ezekiel 7:1-27
Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
Yesterday, we read about God’s warning to idolaters. Today, we see God’s final verdict upon the people of Israel. Observe this in vs.1-9. The people of Judah trusted in their prosperity and possession instead of God (vs.12-13). So, God planned to destroy the basis of their prosperity. Whenever we begin to trust in our jobs, family background, financial strength, or military might for security, we put God in the back seat. Read vs.17-19 again and compare its message with Haggai 1:6 and Proverbs 21:31.
It is vain for you to put your confidence in the arm of flesh or in princes. From vs.20-25 we see God even giving up on His Temple, His dwelling place (v.22). The Children of Israel revered the Temple more than the God of the Temple. Do people in your area practise their religion in similar ways, transferring the reverence that belongs to their creator to created things? Note the group of people who would face the impending doom of God’s wrath in vs.26-27? Our God is patient with us, but we must never interpret His patience as weakness.

Prayer for the week
Pray for the infilling of the Spirit of God for believers in this end time, in order to be ready for the task ahead. Pray for more witnessing and preparation for follow-up programmes for the new converts. Pray for Salvation Army.
