Ezekiel had all the qualities that make for success in serving the Lord. He saw God’s glory and fell in humble worship (Ezekiel 1:28). The vision of the glorious throne is to sustain him when he faces difficult situations. Similarly, Jesus commissioned His disciples as “sheep in the midst of wolves”. Read 2:3-7 and compare the mandate of Ezekiel with the one Jesus gave His disciples in Luke 10:1-3. Are there some similarities? Notice the warning in 2:8? Although he was sent to a rebellious nation of Israel hardened in sin, Ezekiel was warned not to live like the rebels in his environment. From 3:1-11, what is the significance of eating the word of God? Read Psalms 19:7-10 to see the cherished value of the word of God in the life of a believer. It is sweet in the mouth but bitter in the stomach (Rev. 10:11, we must open our and speak, it’s not meant for the stomach. On the strength of the word of God, Ezekiel must go and speak to the rebellious Israel. He should not look at their faces. Similarly, believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are to preach the gospel in the strength of the Lord in all circumstances whether people give attention or not (2 Timothy 4:2).
