OPENING PRAYER: As I read your word O Lord, grant me an insight and grace to do your will in Jesus name.
INTRODUCTION TO 2 CHRONICLES
1 & 2 Chronicles were originally one book. They supplement and complement the historical records in 1 & 2 Samuel and 1 & 2 Kings. In the Hebrew Bible, Chronicles appear as the last book. Ezra may have been the writer probably written between 425 and 400 BC. Note that Ezra chapter 1:1‐3a is identical to 2 Chronicles 36:22‐23. Chronicles, unlike Samuel and Kings, hardly mentions the Northern Kingdom, Israel.
It also omits most references to the sins and defects of King David and King Solomon. Chronicles concentrates mainly on events from a religious rather than historical perspective. The reigns of bad kings are covered much more briefly than those of godly kings. Chapters 1 to 9 cover Solomon’s reign. Chapters 10 to 36 cover the history of Judah from Solomon’s death to captivity.

Read vs.1‐6 and identify the source of King Solomon’s establishment over the kingdom. God helped King Solomon to have a firm grip over the kingdom. God helps godly leaders to discharge their duties effectively, including their leadership roles among the people He entrusts into their care.
In vs.7‐13, we can see some godly leadership traits in Solomon that are worthy of emulation; 1) He gathered the leaders of Israel and led them to meet with God in the tabernacle at Gibeon. One of the core duties of Christian leaders should be to lead people to God. 2) We also see his zeal and devotion to God in v.6. He sacrificed and offered a thousand burnt offerings.
God’s people must sacrifice their life and resources to God and the service of the Kingdom. It is a measure of our love for Him. Observe in vs.8‐ 9, God’s response to Solomon’s sacrificial devotion to God including his prayer request (compare Matthew 6:33). Godly sacrifices and unselfish prayers attract God’s attention, favour and abundant blessings.

• LORD, help me to be committed to your work and word.
Prayer for the week
• Thank God for the Nation Nigeria, that hitherto God has preserved her. Pray for genuine National repentance against the wrath of God for all the evil practiced and are still being practiced in Nigeria
Offer a prayer of faith in line with John 16:33

☛ The presence of God, in the council; on the National Chairman and the Council as they take decisions about the Union.
PRAY AGAINST:
⚠ Every wicked plain to bring leaders who will Islamize the nation Nigeria.
⚠ All the plans of the devil to destroy Nigeria.
