OPENIGN PRAYER: : Dear Lord, I pray that you order my steps today through your word as I meditate on it.
SCRIPTURE: Genesis 46:8 – 34
Scripture Union Daily Guide 18 August 2022 MESSAGE
In vs.8‐27 we have the family register of Jacob and his sons. The whole number that went down into Egypt was sixty‐six (v.26), but when we add Joseph and his two sons, who were there before, and Jacob himself, the head of the family, then we have seventy people in total (v.27).
This number will be the seed of the descendants of Abraham whom God had promised to make a great nation (12:2). What makes you anxious as you await the answers to your prayer? God’s promises will surely be fulfilled no matter how long it may take!
The reunion between Jacob and Joseph took place in Goshen, the most fertile section of Egypt. Observe Jacob’s great satisfaction in meeting Joseph, “Now I am ready to die?” (v.30). He had so much pleasure and satisfaction in meeting his long‐lost, thought to be dead son after many years of separation.
Jacob and his family were made to settle in Goshen because of their occupation (v.34) and probably because of their nationality (see 43:32). This might have been God’s way of isolating them from any social influence of the Egyptians and also preparing them to possess the land He promised to their forefathers.

☀ His love and care for all of us especially when we give our lives to Him and allow Him to lead us.
☀ His plan for our lives and His assurance to neither leave nor forsake us.
PRAY FOR:
☛ Spiritual strength and grace that our work and walk in SU, in our families and in the entire church of God will be without blame.
☛ Deliberate decision among us in SU that we continue to do the good work among children, youths and families.
☛ Increased Godliness as we know Him more and more so we will inherit the promise.
PRAY AGAINST:
⚠ Thinking and feeling God has abandoned you and doesn’t care because of the situations that are surrounding you now.
⚠ Actions and reaction that will make us and our work and walks be rejected and cast away on the Last day.
