Vs.1-4: Under the Law of Moses, divorce was permitted when a man found something indecent or unacceptable about his wife. Moses gave this rule to protect the wife from being abused by the husband. Jesus had to expound God’s plan for marriages to the Pharisees in Mark 10:2-12.
Today, marriages are threatened by many challenges that make it seem like it is not worth the effort. God instituted marriage and therefore will know how to handle every situation that confronts us. Take it to the Lord in prayer. Are you single and yet to marry? Let Christ, not ‘love’, lead you into marriage.
When Christ leads, your love for each other will be genuine. Many young people have unfortunately fallen in love based on deception. Christian marriages can be successful despite challenges that may confront us along the journey when we uphold the following biblical principles:
(a) In Christ Jesus, we tell each other the truth in love before marriage (Ephesians 4:15).
(b) Before or during marriage, we realize that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and must be kept holy (1 Corinthians 6:19).
(c) We forgive each as Christ has forgiven us (Colossians 3:13).
(d) We respect and honour each other as unto Christ.
Recognize that your spouse is created in the image of God (1 Pet.3: 1 – 7).

Closing Prayer
• Pray for all Christian marriages that may be going through some challenges. • Pray for the Church to spend money in a way that will best honour God.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with
Isa. 65-66; Mark 14:54-72
