Scripture Union Daily Guide 15 June 2022 MESSAGE
Notice the reason Jesus told the people this parable (v.11). The Jewish leaders at the time of Jesus’ earthly ministry had poor understanding of God’s Kingdom. Because of this, they opposed Him in various ways.
Jesus, unlike the nobleman in this parable, did not need His people’s approval to be crowned king. He is King irrespective of people’s opinion or acceptance (vs.12, 14‐15). All who reject or oppose Him today will regret on the day He returns (v.27; Acts 4:12)! Before leaving, this man called ten of his servants, gave them ten minas and instructed them to put the money to work until his return (v.13).
Jesus too, commits resources to us today as He is gone to prepare a place for us in His Father’s Kingdom. The resources could be gifts, talents, grace, finances, skills, position of influence, etc. He expects that when He comes, we would have faithfully used them to win and establish souls (Ephesians 4:7‐12). How faithful are we?
Practice/Word Application
So what? The day of accountability is near. We will give account of what we have done with God’s grace and the investment He has made in our lives. He will judge the motives we have underlying every decision we make and every action we take.
