Scripture Union Daily Guide 13 February 2024 MESSAGE
Compare the attitudes of members of the blind man’s community and the Pharisees with that of Jesus (vs.13-18). Naturally, if a community member who had been sick and suffering gets healed and relieved, everyone around him should be rejoicing with him but we see these people taking him here and there to find faults. The spiritually blind Pharisees (Mark 4:12) could not see the merciful God at the centre of the healing and give Him praise.
Notice the blunt answer which the blind man gave in v.17c. What an embarrassment that this lay blind man proved to have known the signs that follow a prophet more than the Bible scholars! That is what we suffer every time we close our hearts to the Holy Spirit and God’s word in unbelief.
In their unbelief about the healing, the Jews questioned the parents of this man (vs.18–19). The parents did not tell the truth because of their fear of excommunication (vs.20-22). The Jews were blinded by unbelief while the parents were bound by fear. Fear and unbelief are tools that Satan is still using to stop humankind from following Jesus Christ.

GRACE TO WAIT ON THE LORD
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.

THANK GOD FOR:
• His word that strengthens us daily to wait for him
• His care and concern for us.

• Grace to reflect on his goodness and help we have received in time past.
• God to endow us with patience to keep on looking unto Him in faith.
• Strength of heart and courage to patiently wait for him who can never be late in attending to our needs.
PRAY AGAINST:
• The deceit of the enemy- who seeks to cause us to sway because of challenges.
