OPENING PRAYER: Dear Lord, expose me to your truth as I read your word in Jesus name.
SCRIPTURE: 2 Thessalonians 2:1‐12
Scripture Union Daily Guide 12 October 2022 Message
Many speculations have been associated with the second coming of Jesus Christ. Some predict the date contrary to Matthew 24:36. Others believe and teach that His coming will be spiritual contrary to Acts 1:11. Still some others (like in today’s passage) believe and teach that He has already come. According to our passage, mention two events that must precede Christ’s second coming (v.3.)
The first is already with us in the form of atheistic and secular humanism, materialistic consumer society, relative morality, social permissiveness which devalues sanctity of human life, sex, marriage, and family life which are all created or instituted by God.
The second event is the revelation of the man of lawlessness, also known as the Antichrist. This is a human personality who will be Satan‐incarnate. This has future occurrence. Point out from our passage the characteristics of the Antichrist (see also Revelation 13).
Notice how he will end up (v.8). Vs.6&7 indicate that the Antichrist is currently being restrained. It is widely believed that the restraint is due to the work of the Holy Spirit and the Church.

• Lord Jesus, grant me and your Church victory over the current wave of rebellion against you.

THANK GOD FOR:
☀ Giving us children and teaching us how to raise them.
☀ Insisting on the issue of discipline in raising children.
PRAY FOR:
☛ Parents as they train, show love and discipline their children.
☛ Some of our Children who have chosen the negative way to be arrogant, abusive and disobedient to their parents. That God will arrest them like the prodigal son was arrested.
☛ God to help them come to their senses, and God to help their parents to still show compassion when they come back.
PRAY AGAINST:
⚠ Imbibing the ways of the world that preaches against discipline whereby parents no longer reprove, nor rebuke their children.
⚠ The preaching of self‐esteem instead of God‐esteem, self‐will instead of God’s will in child upbringing.
