TOPIC: “Life is not fair!”
My dear heavenly Father, as I study your word, let it be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: MARK 4: 21-34
QUESTION FOR REFLECTION
• Q 7: What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 10th January 2023 MESSAGE
Take a close look at v.25. Surely, this makes it clear that life is not fair. We can see how it works out in our country. The rich get more riches and the poor beget more children who then grow up to serve the children of the rich! We see it in international economics as the rich countries get richer by milking the resources of the poor countries. In this way, the mineral wealth of Africa is exploited by the rich nations who leave behind arid mine heaps and rivers and agricultural lands polluted by petroleum waste. To make matters worse, our best and brightest young people go to study abroad and remain there. In this way, they are taken away from us to help develop the economy of the rich even further. Life is not fair!
Now take another look at the verse before v. 24. “The measure you use” refers to the way you handle whatever God places in your hand.” The rich nations would not be able to exploit us the way they do if our leaders do not sell us out. “It is the rat in the house which tells the rat in the field that there is cheese in the kitchen.” Those of us who are in Christ can make a difference as we shine God’s light in the darkness that engulfs our nations (vs.21-22).
PRACTICE/WORD APPLICATION
So what? Read and meditate on vs.26-29 and 30-32, God can make our little seeds blossom into big trees. Stop the blame game, just sow the seed.

THANK GOD FOR:
► The Bible reminding us that there are still a lot of work ahead, so we don’t sit and begin to celebrate yet.
► The continuity in the Christian race that makes us remain hopeful to the end.
PRAY FOR:
► Grace to continue to press on as we forget our past achievements and failures.
► Strength from above for brethren who are tired and are no more motivated to continue in the race.
► Deliberate decision to lay aside weights and sins that will surely make us not run the race correctly.
PRAY AGAINST:
► All forms of negative emotions that will hinder us from moving on with our God and make us keep looking back.
► Looking at former things, recounting our past achievements and refusing to move on daily.
