TOPIC: Shavuot Begins at Sundown
You must observe the Feast of Weeks, the first fruits of the wheat harvest…
– Exodus 34:22a
Shavuot is also known as the Feast of Weeks. This is the second pilgrimage festival of the year. Israel was instructed by God to count 50 days from Passover, which is seven weeks or seven Sabbaths, plus one day, at which time they reap the wheat harvest. Israel also commemorates this day because it is believed it was 50 days after Israel left Egypt on the first Passover that God gave the Ten Commandments (Torah) at Mount Sinai.

The correlation for believers in Christ is that 50 days after the Passover crucifixion of Jesus, the Holy Spirit was poured out. The written Word was given 50 days after the very first Passover in Egypt, and the Spirit of the living Word was poured out 50 days after the Passover crucifixion of Jesus. This is no coincidence.
We are now blessed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit to benefit the body of Christ and give God glory!
Thank You, Holy Spirit, for baptizing us in God’s love and power.
