On the Way to Canaan (7)

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Jeremiah 31-32
TEXT: “And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married:…And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it”. Number 12 :1 – 2.

The second kind of opposition to expect on the way to Canaan is internal opposition. These are oppositions from sources close to you. It can be from siblings, relatives, friends, colleagues of the same profession with you, brother etc.
Mairiam and Aaron we’re siblings of Moses. Mairiam was his elder sister, and was very instrumental to his being rescued from death when she stood afar off the river brink to observe what would happen to him and when Pharaoh’s daughter saw him, she ensured she convinced her to hire his mother as a nurse to take care of him Exod. 2 :4 – 9; Also, Aaron his brother, due to his closeness to him, go shave him the ministry of being spokesman to Moses (Exod. 4 :12 – 16). My emphasis here is that they were close to him, yet they opposed him, downplaying his leadership over them saying, “Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses?Hath he not spoken also by us?”
Opposition from without can be explained but opposition from within is unthinkable and very painful. Instances are the brothers of jephthah against him.
Another internal opposition arose from certain leaders, men of renown, domous in the congregation against Moses and Aaron, their overall leader and the priest over them. Moses despite his meekness understood the place of warfare and judgment and he decreed the judgment of the LORD and God hearkened to him and the earth opened up and swallowed them Numbers 16 :15 – 35.
I pray for you, no matter the opposition that rises up against you, you will overcome.
PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray now, I shall overcome every opposition that rises up against me, in Jesus name…
