TOPIC: The Lord Leads
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Luke 9:57 (KJV) And it came to pass, that as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
GoodNews Daily Devotional 29th September 2022 MESSAGE
This scripture is very important to everyone who considers himself a believer or non-believer. Whether you are right now in ministry or not, it’s for all followers of Christ and potential followers. The name of the person in the scripture wasn’t given, the Bible simply says a certain man, but we know it truly happened. This man volunteered to follow Jesus.
Many times, most Christians and churchgoers are waiting to be asked to do tasks which they know they have the expertise in within the church. We are all called to ministry and as such we are given certain gifts, talents, or potentials that when applied will move the church of God forward. The reluctance or waiting to be called upon the attitude that is circulating within the church slows the progress of the gospel.
For others, it’s just a calculated move and intentional, while for others it’s timidity. Whichever camp you fall in, the central theme here is avoidance of service. We are called to service, soldiers in the Lord’s army, requiring us to be active and on fire for Jesus. I can’t imagine anyone on fire that would re- main calm, not at all! That person will swiftly run looking for ways to put off the fire. Therefore, let’s run with this strange commission God has given us today!
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
I am now on fire for Jesus, no enemy can keep me down. My life will shine brilliantly and attract others to see the Christ in me. I cannot be ashamed of the Gospel for it is the power of God over the enemy.
