TOPIC: No Greater Love
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: John 15:13 (NIV) Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
GoodNews Daily Devotional 19th September 2022 MESSAGE
What Jesus did for mankind by laying down his life distinguishes the so-called world religions from Christianity which in essence is not a religion. This kind of love demonstrates how the father cares for his children. The Bible tells us that ‘while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us’ (Romans 5:18, KJV). This kind of love as demonstrated by the father should capture our attention in our Christian walk.
This is the expression of love that is expected amongst Christians, your love for a brother and sister should echo the same kind of love demonstrated by Jesus and not subject to certain conditions being met. When you see your brother or sister going astray or falling short somewhere or in something, your correction should be done purely out of this ‘agape’ love. We are Christ’s imitators and written epistles and need to function like Christ.
True love should envelop our interactions with fellow believers and non-believers alike. There is no more room for hatred, anger, gossip and back biting. Let love flow out of your conversation and by doing so, more souls will be won to Christ. Christ is the epitome of true love, and we need to imitate that.
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
The love that flows out of me is pure, genuine, and clean; there is no hidden agenda in my approach to others. I function like Christ; I’m a carrier of agape love and my life shall continue to blossom in Jesus’ name. Amen
