TOPIC: Leaning On God
TEXT: Jeremiah 10:17-24(NKJV)
STUDY: Our text today draws attention to the need to completely depend on God. Some people erroneously believe that they are in control of their lives. They believe that their steps in life are in their power to direct. Others attribute their success in life to their smartness in business, security arrangements, social connections, academic intelligence and eloquence.
Some of us believe that the reason we overcame the COVID-19 pandemic is because we stuck to the guidelines. It would be most unfortunate if we divorce God from the center of it all. It is God who is in charge and total control of our lives (Acts. 17:28). Prophet Jeremiah affirmed that God’s ability to direct our lives is far superior to our own ability (v.23).
Our knowledge of total dependence on God should teach us to be careful how we live because our lives are not in our hands but in God’s hands. The likes of king Nebuchadnezzar (Dan. 4:29-31), king Herod (Acts 12.21-23) and the rich fool (Luke 12.13-21) were humbled under the mighty hands of God.
Let us humble ourselves and learn to depend on God. As we step out today, let us acknowledge God in all your ways and lean not on your own understanding (Prov. 3.3-5).
PRAYER: Sovereign Lord, grant me the grace to understand and always submit to your Will in Jesus name. Amen
