📖 Bible Verse for Today

Daily Devotional Message

Today’s daily devotional reminds us of one of the greatest gifts we have as believers—the ability to come boldly before God in prayer. In John 16:25–26, Jesus speaks to His disciples about a time when they would understand more clearly and would be able to ask the Father in His name.

Daily Devotional for Today (April 16, 2026) | Morning Prayer & Bible Verse

This passage reveals something powerful: through Jesus, we have direct access to God.

Before Christ, many people viewed God from a distance—holy, powerful, and often unreachable. But Jesus came to reveal the Father and to bring us into a personal relationship with Him. He did not come to create distance; He came to remove it.

When Jesus says, “In that day you will ask in my name,” He is not giving us a religious phrase to repeat at the end of every prayer. He is speaking about relationship, authority, and confidence.

To pray in Jesus’ name means to approach God through the finished work of Christ, trusting that we are heard not because of our own righteousness, but because of His grace.

This changes everything.

Prayer is no longer about fear—it becomes fellowship.

It is not about trying to impress God with perfect words. It is about honestly coming before your Heavenly Father, knowing that He loves you and welcomes you.

Many people struggle with prayer because they feel unworthy. They think their mistakes disqualify them or that God is too busy for their concerns. But Jesus teaches the opposite.

Because of Him, you can come with confidence.

You can bring:

  • Your needs
  • Your fears
  • Your questions
  • Your gratitude
  • Your pain
  • Your hopes for the future

Nothing is too small, and nothing is too big for God.

Jesus also says that a time is coming when He will speak plainly about the Father. This reminds us that God desires clarity, not confusion. He wants you to know Him personally and to understand His heart.

Sometimes, unanswered prayers can make us feel distant from God. We may wonder if He hears us or if He truly cares. But prayer is not only about receiving answers—it is about growing in trust.

Even when the answer is delayed, God is still listening.

Even when the response is different than expected, God is still working.

Prayer is not a last resort—it is a daily connection.

It is where strength is renewed, peace is restored, and direction becomes clearer.

The more you pray, the more you recognize God’s presence in your life.

Another important truth in this passage is that prayer should be rooted in faith. When you pray in Jesus’ name, you are aligning your heart with His will. You are trusting not just for what you want, but for what God knows is best.

This kind of prayer brings peace, because it shifts your focus from control to surrender.

If you have been hesitant in prayer, unsure of how to begin, or discouraged by silence, let this verse encourage you.

You are invited.

You are welcome.

You are heard.

God is not waiting for perfect prayers—He is waiting for your heart.

Today, come to Him with confidence.

Pray honestly.

Trust deeply.

And remember that through Jesus, you have full access to the Father.

Morning Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of prayer and for the access I have to You through Jesus Christ. Thank You that I can come before You with confidence, knowing that You hear me.

Lord, help me to grow in my prayer life and to trust You more deeply. Remove every fear, doubt, or hesitation that keeps me from coming to You.

Teach me to pray with faith and to align my heart with Your will. Help me to trust Your timing and Your answers, even when I do not understand.

Thank You for being a loving Father who welcomes me and cares for every detail of my life.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection for Today

Do you approach prayer with confidence and trust, or do fear and doubt hold you back?

Key Takeaway

Through Jesus, you have direct access to God—pray boldly, trust deeply, and rest in His love.
