The Upper Room Daily Devotional 25th December 2022 MESSAGE

As a young girl, I found the Christmas season to be tremendously exciting. It was a season for singing and celebrating. And almost everyone in the village would buy new clothes. The Christmas spirit could be felt all around, especially at church in the sounds of singing and drumming. Everybody in the village knew Christmas was a time to eat the best meals. Even those who could not afford to buy meat any other time of the year would make sure they had some for Christmas. On Christmas day the singing, the clapping of hands, and the drumming seemed to join with the heavenly host in praising God.

I imagine that there was no less excitement when the angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds in the field who were watching over their sheep. After the angel had told them the good news of the birth of Christ, there appeared a multitude of angels praising God!

In this Christmas season, let us join in singing — for Christ is born! Let us also announce the good news of his birth all around us so that others can come and celebrate the joy of Christmas with us.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord, may the joy of Christmas fill our hearts as we offer our praise to you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
