Daily Fountain Devotional 7 August 2026 TOPIC: Priorities In Prayer Restores
SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Thessalonians 3:1-6
1 Therefore, when we could no longer endure it, we thought it good to be left in Athens alone, 2 and sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you and encourage you concerning your faith, 3 that no one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we are appointed to this. 4 For, in fact, we told you before when we were with you that we would suffer tribulation, just as it happened, and you know. 5 For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor might be in vain.
6 But now that Timothy has come to us from you, and brought us good news of your faith and love, and that you always have good remembrance of us, greatly desiring to see us, as we also to see you—
TODAY’S DAILY DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
The words of Jesus Christ in John 16:33 “… in this world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” is a practical situation of the experience of Apostle Paul for his ministry towards the young church at Thessalonica (Acts 17:5-9). Though, they were pre-warned of the coming persecution, still the faith of the young brethren was unknown.
So, Paul considered it wise to send Timothy to the Church to stimulate their zeal in Christ again. This shows leadership accountability (v. 1). Timothy provided strength and encouragement to the young Church (v. 2). This effort worked to rescue those who might have fallen away (v. 3). They fought to ensure that their work had not been in vain (vv. 4-5).
Timothy brought back a positive report of the Church to Paul and the brethren, of their growth and how they longed to see them (v. 6). How do you respond to challenges which you think would come in the lives of young brethren in our churches and society? (Gal. 6:2).
It is the duty and responsibilities of Christian leaders to encourage and strengthen young believers by guiding and directing them on the right path and preventing them from falling. It is important that we review our commitment and service to the Lord along this line, daily.
PRAYER: Father; please grant me the enablement to be consistent in my walk with you.
