Daily Fountain Devotional 31 July 2026 TOPIC: The God Who Pardons And Restores

SCRIPTURE READING: Micah 7:18-20

18 Who is a God like You,
Pardoning iniquity
And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage?

He does not retain His anger forever,
Because He delights in mercy.[a]
19 He will again have compassion on us,
And will subdue our iniquities.

You will cast all [b]our sins
Into the depths of the sea.
20 You will give truth to Jacob
And [c]mercy to Abraham,
Which You have sworn to our fathers
From days of old.

TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE:

Today’s passage concludes on the book of Micah which we have been studying for about 3 weeks now. The focus of our text is to show us three important attributes of God in respect to His relationship with His chosen people. First, it shows us that God gets angry and so punishes His people when they go astray (vv. 18&19).

Second, we see that God in His steadfast love and compassion will pardon the sins of His beloved people, especially when they genuinely repent of their sins and turn from their wicked ways (vv. 18&19). And third, having received forgiveness, God shows His faithfulness to His people by restoring that which they have lost as a result of their sinfulness (v. 20).

Beloved, I encourage you to consider your ways and take a closer look at your life: Are you really in a right standing with God? If not, I urge you to retrace your steps and genuinely repent of your sinful and wicked ways. God is gracious; He will forgive you and show you His faithfulness and unfailing love which He has promised us in Jesus Christ (2 Chron. 7:14; Jer. 30:17-22).

PRAYER: Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love and mercy, blot out my transgression. Amen!
