Scripture Union Daily Guide 12th July 2026 – OUTLINE

In response to the questioning of His authority by the scribes and Pharisees after His cleansing of the Temple, Jesus tells a parable. The parable was a prophecy to its original hearers of His death. The hearers understood the parable: The Vine owner is God, the Vineyard is Israel, the servants are the priests and prophets, the wicked farmers are the religious leaders, the son is Jesus the Messiah, while others are the Gentiles. Can you observe the fulfilment of the Master’s predictions in Luke 20:10-15?

Read Luke 20:17-18 and note the severity of rejecting Jesus. Why were they trying to lay hands on Him (Luke 20:19)? By quoting Psalms 118:22 for them Jesus reminded them that their rejection of Him had been predicted. Read Luke 20:20-26 and observe Jesus detecting the trickery of deceitful spies. He disarmed them by wisdom because directly approving tax payment to Caesar would have brought Him into disfavor with the Jews. Always depend on the Holy Spirit to answer questions from the world leaders/authority (Luke 21:12-15)

Closing Prayer
Oh Lord, may I never maltreat your servants but help them serve you better

Bible Reading Plan
Amos 5-9
