BIBLE VERSE FOR TODAY: “The third time He said to him, ‘Simon son of John, do you love Me?’ Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, ‘Do you love Me?’ He said, ‘Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.’ Jesus said, ‘Feed My sheep.’” – John 21:17
After Peter denied Jesus three times, he may have wondered if he could ever be restored. But when the risen Christ met him by the Sea of Galilee, He did not reject him. Instead, Jesus lovingly asked Peter three times, “Do you love Me?”
By the third question, Peter was grieved, yet he answered with humility:
“Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.”
Jesus then entrusted him with a mission:
“Feed My sheep.”
This beautiful exchange reminds us that genuine love for Christ is demonstrated through faithful service and care for others.
Jesus did not ask Peter if he was perfect.
He did not ask about Peter’s achievements or failures.
He asked about his love.
Our relationship with Jesus begins in the heart. When we truly love Him, that love overflows into obedience, compassion, and a desire to care for the people He has placed in our lives.
Like Peter, we may have moments of weakness or regret. We may look back on missed opportunities or personal failures. Yet Jesus is gracious to restore those who return to Him with sincere hearts.
He does not define us by our past mistakes. Instead, He calls us forward into His purpose.
Every act of kindness, every word of encouragement, every prayer offered for someone in need, and every opportunity to share the love of Christ is part of “feeding His sheep.”
Today, let your love for Jesus shape the way you live.
Love Him with your whole heart.
Serve Him with joy.
Care for others with compassion.
And trust that the One who restored Peter is able to strengthen and use you for His glory.
Let’s Pray:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your mercy and for the love You have shown me through Jesus Christ. Thank You that You restore those who come to You with humble and repentant hearts.
Lord, deepen my love for You each day. Let my relationship with You be sincere, wholehearted, and reflected in the way I treat others.
Help me to serve faithfully, encourage those who are weary, and care for the people You have entrusted to my life. Where I have failed, remind me of Your grace and lead me into renewed purpose.
Use my words, my actions, and my life to point others to Your goodness.
Thank You for calling me, restoring me, and inviting me to participate in Your work.
