It was said that before man eventually succeeded in her journey to the moon, the initial efforts were flights to destruction. You also remember the great voyage in the famed ocean liner called the Titanic. The builder had boasted that nobody, not even God, can destroy it. In its maiden voyage, 1517 out of 2240 voyagers (including the builder) were destroyed on April 15, 1912, as they hit an iceberg. This can be said of all sexual escapades and unchastity.
Associating with or looking the way of the immoral woman can be the gate way to destruction (vv.6–10). Can you give a graphic description of her person? See vv.11–17 &21. Her description in vv.18–20 can seem very appealing but it is just a snare to entrap the simple.
Read vv.22–23 again and compare it to Judges 16:15–17 and Proverbs 5:3–5. What glorious escape is provided for us in today’s reading (vv.1–5, 24–27)?
Always bear in mind that choices have consequences. Each time you are enticed, always remember vv.26 ─ 27. Even strong men fell to her entrapment. The wisest thing is always to flee from immoral people. Keep away from environments that increase sexual appeal (vv.6–8).
Practice/Word Application
• So what? Do not dress to kill unless you are a harlot (v.10, compare Job 31:1).
Prayer Points
• Thank you, Lord, that with every temptation the devil brings, you always provide the way of escape.
• Thank God for interdenominational corporate bodies such as Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN).
• Offer a prayer of faith in line with Psalm 40:13
