TOPIC: Sacrificial Giving

Bible In One Year:
1 Kings 8–9; Luke 21:1–19

Memory Verse:
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

Motivational Quotes:
Current of favour will flow into your life the moment you solve a problem for somebody.

Prophetic Word for today:
Receive power to connect to supernatural flow of abundance, in the Name of Jesus.

Fire Scripture:
2 Corinthians 9:6-15

6 Remember this: The one who plants few seeds will have a small harvest. But the one who plants a lot will have a big harvest. 7 Each one of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give. You should not give if it makes you unhappy or if you feel forced to give. God loves those who are happy to give. 8 And God can give you more blessings than you need, and you will always have plenty of everything. You will have enough to give to every good work. 9 As the Scriptures say,
“He gives generously to the poor;
his goodness will continue forever.”

10 God is the one who gives seed to those who plant, and he gives bread for food. And God will give you spiritual seed and make that seed grow. He will produce a great harvest from your goodness. 11 God will make you rich in every way so that you can always give freely. And your giving through us will make people give thanks to God.
12 The service you are offering helps God’s people with their needs, but that is not all it does. It is also bringing more and more thanks to God.

13 This service is a proof of your faith, and people will praise God because of it. They will praise God that you freely share what you have with them and with all people. They will praise him to see you following the Good News about Christ that you openly accepted. They will praise God because you freely share with them and with all people.

14 And when they pray, they will wish they could be with you. They will feel this way because of the great grace that God gave you. 15 Thanks be to God for his gift that is too wonderful to describe.

Genesis 22:1-13

1 After these things God decided to test Abraham’s faith. God said to him, “Abraham!”
And he said, “Yes!”
2 Then God said, “Take your son to the land of Moriah and kill your son there as a sacrifice for me. This must be Isaac, your only son, the one you love. Use him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains there. I will tell you which mountain.”

3 In the morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey. He took Isaac and two servants with him. He cut the wood for the sacrifice. Then they went to the place where God told them to go. 4 After they traveled three days, Abraham looked up, and in the distance he saw the place where they were going. 5 Then he said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go to that place and worship. Then we will come back to you later.”

6 Abraham took the wood for the sacrifice and put it on his son’s shoulder. Abraham took the special knife and fire. Then both he and his son went together to the place for worship.
7 Isaac said to his father Abraham, “Father!”
Abraham answered, “Yes, son?”
Isaac said, “I see the wood and the fire. But where is the lamb we will burn as a sacrifice?”

8 Abraham answered, “God himself is providing the lamb for the sacrifice, my son.”
So both Abraham and his son went together to that place. 9 When they came to the place where God told them to go, Abraham built an altar. He carefully laid the wood on the altar. Then he tied up his son Isaac and laid him on the altar on top of the wood. 10 Then Abraham reached for his knife to kill his son.
11 But the angel of the Lord stopped him. The angel called from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!”
Abraham answered, “Yes?”

12 The angel said, “Don’t kill your son or hurt him in any way. Now I can see that you do respect and obey God. I see that you are ready to kill your son, your only son, for me.”
13 Then Abraham noticed a ram whose horns were caught in a bush. So Abraham went and took the ram. He offered it, instead of his son, as a sacrifice to God.

MFM MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE:

Giving is to release one’s possession willingly to another person. It is an act of kindness towards others. God gave us His only begotten Son. To every sacrifice given, there is a string attached. Giving without a purpose or without a willing heart can make it to be unacceptable to God. Sacrificial giving requires total surrender.
God gave us Jesus Christ to die for our sins, to show us the way to Him and to come back and take us to Him. He also gave us His Son to secure eternal home for us in heaven (John 14:1-3).

A giver is a sower. The time of reaping will come at an unexpected time. The whole world is undergoing economic meltdown, famine and scarcity. The little you give now can go a long way to save lives (2 Corinthians 9:7-8).
God is able to make all grace abound towards you by making you to have sufficiency in all things. Lack is never a portion of a cheerful giver. In the same vein, God needs our hearts. Give your heart to Him. Jesus is a sacrificial gift to mankind from God.

The Almighty told Abraham to give him Isaac, the promised child he had in his old age, and he obeyed to the last instruction.

Can you give God your best, even what is most precious to you: your money, house, cars, land? Yes, you can!
But what God requires from you from all these is your heart. A broken and a contrite heart God will not despise. Please read (Psalm 51:17). This is the sacrifice of God. Your body should be a living sacrifice to God, holy and acceptable. This is your reasonable service unto God (Romans 12: 1-2). You must be holy, especially you who carry the vessels of God. David was determined not to offer burnt offering unto God that cost him nothing (2 Samuel 24:24).

When you give, especially towards the work of God, to the needy and the poor, it is counted unto you for righteousness. God, in return, now ministers to your own needs, increases your bread, multiplies your seed sown and increases the fruits of your righteousness. This promise can be found in 2 Corinthians 9:7-12.
Our sacrificial giving gives glory to God and blesses us too.
