TOPIC: Not By Might, Not By Power
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Zechariah 4: 6 (NKJV) So he answered and said to me: ‘This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of hosts.’
GoodNews Daily Devotional 6th September 2022 MESSAGE
This scripture is often quoted among believers, but very few barely understand the true meaning. The word ‘might’ here is the Hebrew word ‘chayil’ which means ‘force’ whether of men/army or other resources like wealth and riches. Also, the word ‘power’ from the Hebrew word‘koach’, meaning: to be firm or strong.
The Prophet Zechariah was speaking what God says to Zerubbabel who had returned from being in the royal service to a king in a foreign land and was now in control of a project to rebuild the broken walls of Jerusalem. The zeal and desire of Zerubbabel to undertake this project as inspired by God didn’t exempt him from the enemies’ attacks. The battle faced in erecting the walls of Jerusalem was constant, a daily barrage of attacks. Builders held weapons of warfare in one hand and used the other hand to carry on the project.
This teaches us as Christians we are not exempt from the attacks of the enemy. In fact, sometimes it gets worse once you pledged your allegiance to Christ. The only outlet is to have more fellowship with the Holy Spirit and by so doing, the Holy Spirit will engage the problems, and your victory is bound to spring up in no time as the Holy Spirit takes charge. You are victorious in Christ!
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
I am abiding in God as he abides in me. I cannot fail in life as the Holy Spirit is my Senior Partner. My life shall attract Good News every minute of the day and my victory is assured in Christ. Amen.
