Psalm 145:14-21
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? – Matthew 6:26 (NIV)
When I found out my wife was pregnant, I was thrilled. Then we learned she was pregnant with twins, and I was worried we would not be able to meet all their needs. After eight months, Jedidiah and Noah were born.
The first two years were the hardest because our sons were born prematurely and needed extra attention. My wife resigned from her job so she could devote herself fully to caring for the twins. As new parents, we faced many struggles, especially financially since my wife’s income used to support our family. We needed so much money for milk, food, and clothes, and I felt desperate to fulfill all the needs. Pondering Jesus’ words that our Father feeds even the birds of the air strengthened me during that period.
God miraculously met all our needs. On numerous occasions, the Lord has demonstrated great care for us by providing us with necessities such as milk, diapers, and clothing. The Lord has used good friends and sometimes strangers to support our needs. Truly God cares for us much more than for the birds of the air!
Today’s Prayer
Dear God, thank you for the comfort you offer us in scripture. Help us remember that you will provide for us in our times of need. Amen.
