Do to others as you would have them do to you. – Luke 6:31 (NRSVUE)
Though my colleague was a competent teacher, she seemed to have problems with everyone on campus — office staff, teachers, and students. She ended up feeling lonely since most people in the school started avoiding her.
At times, we had conflicts as well. But as a Christian, I felt called to treat her with forgiveness and love. This led to her changing her attitude toward me.
Our good attitude helps other people bring out their own goodness. Jesus Christ presented the law of love, which tells us that we are to forgive, to love those who seem not to deserve it, and to pray for those we are in conflict with. This is against human nature, but we are called to do it because Christ did it first. If we treat others how we want to be treated, hardened hearts tend to soften. Love is the sign of a true Christian, and this love changes people.
Thought for the Day
When I treat others with care and respect, I show them Christ’s love.
Prayer Focus
People I find hard to love
Today’s Prayer
Lord Jesus, help us to love others even when it is challenging to do so. May we treat others with respect and care. Amen.
