[The Lord] guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. – Psalm 23:3-4 (NIV)
I was depressed, weighed down by decisions I made that were clearly not aligned with the values of a Christ-filled life and were leading me down the wrong path. One morning I opened my Bible looking for answers and seeking to return to Christ and his teachings. The Spirit of the Lord led me to Psalm 23.
Later that day,
I was involved in a serious car accident. God’s divine presence was surely with me that day, and the scripture I had read earlier in the day provided me with strength and comfort for what was to come. More than that, it allowed me to fully acknowledge that even though I had abandoned God, God had never abandoned me. God has been with me through the darkest valleys and guides me still. Thanks be to God!
Today’s Prayer
Faithful God, we know that when we pull away from you, you never abandon us. Thank you for your patience and for your steadfast love and forgiveness. Amen.
Thought for the Day
God will never abandon me.
Prayer Focus
Those who have been in a car accident
