Psalm 112:1-10
Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me in a broad place. – Psalm 118:5 (NRSVUE)
Today’s Message
As I write this, my eldest daughter, Heaven, just turned eight. She was diagnosed with generalized absence seizures in April 2022. This was perhaps the most painful news we had ever heard since it involved the health of our child. I still recall the pain I felt when my daughter softly said, “I will fight this, Dad.” I cried with my whole family.
Heaven needed to undergo an MRI so her physician could determine what medication and treatment she would need. While waiting for the MRI, we spent many long nights in distress. However, we also gained strength and held on to our faith. We entrusted everything to God.
After Heaven underwent the MRI, her physician told us that her brain was functioning normally, and medication was all that was needed. Her physician was amazed. I told the physician that many people had been praying, and we were very thankful.
After 6 months of taking medication, Heaven is almost fully recovered, and she has not had another seizure. Truly, God is faithful. When we trust in God, God is with us.
Today’s Prayer
Gracious God, be with those who live with chronic conditions. May all those in distress find solace in your loving arms. Amen.
Thought for the Day
Even during troubling situations, I will hold on to my faith.
