TOPIC: Pass It On

TODAY’S READING
Acts of the Apostles 16:25-32

“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me.” – Isaiah 43:10 (NIV)

While I was reaching down to pick up a shell on Florida’s Sanibel Island, a woman who was passing by asked if I was finding anything. I answered that I was, because I was searching only for broken shell pieces and small round shells. I explained that I make Nativity scenes in my workshop and use shells to form the figures. I showed her how an oblong shell piece and a small round shell together create the image of the baby Jesus. As the woman rejoined her husband a few steps away, I overheard her tell him about how two small shells can represent the baby Jesus.

I don’t know whether that person on the beach was a Christian or if she will share my story with others. But I am glad I took the opportunity to talk with her. Too often I feel that I am not well equipped for telling people about Christ. But that day God showed me how my talents prepared me for sharing my faith in a unique way. That beach encounter reminds me that we need to be ready and willing to witness to God’s love and saving grace because the opportunity may arise at any time.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear God, give us the confidence to express your love and presence to someone who may not know you or who needs to be reminded of your love for them. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Each day brings me opportunities to remind someone of God’s love.

PRAYER FOCUS
For courage to share my faith
